With all the momentum and support Southampton had on this very special day, it would seem no surprise at all that they would keep on pushing till the final whistle against a buoyant Manchester United side. But there was no reason to be afraid… especially when you had the clinical Manolo Gabbiadini up front…however there was the ruthless Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the field as well…
As we finally reached the stage of the FA Cup 3rd round, it was about time that we saw some new clubs getting into the spotlight as they contested some of England’s elite clubs.
The start of a new year and a fresh start but what was Chelsea’s New Year resolution going to be after it seemed impossible for any team to catch up with them, how would they fare against an excelling Tottenham side, who had won four in a row.
Chelsea were flying high with another solid performance while it seemed that Arsenal were gradually drifting away from the top with their second defeat in five days. Liverpool, on the other hand, remained in touching distance with the leaders after a narrow 1-0 victory in the Merseyside derby.
It was yet another eventful weekend in the Premier League filled with twists and turns but it was undeniably Leicester and Jamie Vardy’s turn to steal the headlines the following weekend after an emphatic 4-2 victory over the struggling Manchester City which also saw Vardy’s first hat-trick for the club.
